Monday, March 10, 2008 8:45 AM - 4:30 PM
School of International and Public Affairs, Columbia University

Presenters

"What hath Google wrought and what does it promise or threaten to do to, and for, libraries? What will become of libraries? What will become of library collections? What will become of librarians and support staff? What will become of the print medium and generally all information that does not, or cannot be made to, reside on the Web?

"How has Google impacted the libraries of Russia? Originating as a program for a study tour for Russia and CIS librarians, the Google and Libraries conference has been expanded to include a focus on Google's impact on U.S. Libraries and possible future developments.

"Anyone concerned with the future of libraries and librarianship in the age of Google is the target audience for this conference. Lunch will be served."

$90 registration, with discounts to METRO member libraries, current LIS students, and Columbia University staff.

I post this not just because I helped select the speakers--or maybe it is because I helped select the speakers. I have seen each of the Americans do their thing, and I know them to be knowledgeable and powerful presenters...and I have a pretty good idea that their talks are informed by their non-corporate politics. If ya know what I mean.
