question / pregunta:
Hello! I am looking for social/political histories of 4 neighborhoods in Brooklyn from the 1960s forward; the neighborhoods are Brownsville, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Kensington and Flatlands. Any information that can help me towards creating activism timelines in these areas is great! Also, I'm looking for information on the 1968 New York Teacher's Strike centered in Brownsville and Ocean Hill, and the Beth-El Hospital Workers Strike, which I believe was in 1962.
This project will eventually be focused on existing vacant lots in these neighborhoods so any tips on/histories of/ information on vacant lots in brooklyn or these specific neighborhoods would be great!
THANK YOU

question / pregunta:
Anyone know of any radical events in July 2011? We scheduled the NYC Anarchist Book Fair for April 9th and found out it was the same weekend as the Bay Area Anarchist Bookfair a day after we announced it and would like to reschedule to avoid overlap.
Thanks,
Dan

question / pregunta:
I am doing research on harassment and groping by police officers in New York City while conducting Stop & Frisks. Specifically those who are aggressive and engage in inappropriate frisking methods, like groping, when dealing with gender non-conforming and trans* subjects. I am looking for data/statistics, police reports, or just first hand accounts of these sorts of interactions. What I've found so far has been extremely sparse. Thank you.

question / pregunta:
Hi there! I wrote an undergraduate thesis on doulas and childbirth in college. I graduated almost two years ago now, but want to continue my research independently. While in school, I had to submit my research proposal to an Institutional Review Board. I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing both ethically and legally if I continue my studies, but I have no idea where to turn to for an IRB approval without an academic institution at my fingertips. I'm not sure if this is something you all can answer, but do you know of any independent IRB's or information for independent researchers? Thanks so much!

question / pregunta:
I'm part of a collective that produces independent media about a radical movement. We're about to approach a labor library at a private university about accepting physical and electronic files into their collection. We'd like to see these items not only be available to scholars, however, but also to be digitized so we can link to them from our own site and allow remotely located activists access to this history. We understand that the archive will be more likely to accept our collection if we have some funding attached to it. So, I have a few questions:
1. Are there sources of funding for radical history archival?
2. What is the protocol for approaching the archive about digitization? Will they be weird about our desire to make the collection visible on our website?
Thanks for any insight you can provide.

question / pregunta:
I read your article in the IFLA Journal 35 in 2009. What still is not clear to me about the work of radical reference: What kind of questions are asked at demonstration and other political events? First people have to recognize you, but what happens with you at these events afterwards? Could you supply sample questions?
Thank you very much!

question / pregunta:
About a month ago I read an article on the CBC website announcing the Tories plans to fund prison expansion.
Part of the $155.5 million, $60 million to be exact, is going to fund new beds. Here is the link to the article for more specific information: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2010/10/06/toews-prison-construction.html
My question is who is building these beds? What company?
Thanks,
Nasrin

I am doing a project about the Zapatista's use of IT (mostly the internet). I am interested in finding information on how women in the Zapatistas have used IT or how they have been involved in its use in the Zapatista movement.
