Anarchist Book Fair, San Francisco 2005

Friday, March 25

Eric and I arrived from San Francisco at 11:30 this morning and were picked up by Julie Herrada, curator of the Labadie Collection and her friend Danny. We ran into ChuckO at the Vietnamese restaurant at which we wanted to eat lunch (too crowded so we ate next store, Thai--still delicious and priced to move), ate, and then proceeded to the Prelinger Archive and were given a tour by Rick and Megan Prelinger. See Eli Edwards' post for a good analysis of the library. I'll put up some pictures later. I really enjoyed seeing the collection even though I couldn't help but feel a little defensive about it, as a librarian. Other than Eric, all of us on the tour are associated with librarianship, but I guess I'm in the most traditional set up, so I was the only one who seemed to be at all sensitive.

All in all, I love the way sections flow into one another. Using copyright to bridge political science & philosophy with business was one of my favorite transitions, but education being next to prisons was pretty cute, too.

Tonight we're off to Critical Mass and then the Anarchist Cafe.
