I am trying to fact check a quote my organization is using in an online resource directory. in our guiding statement we quote george clinton, and i need to know the exact quote. we have two versions:
"Whoever controls the flow of information dictates our perceptions and perspectives; whoever controls the news shapes our destiny."
and
"Whoever controls the media shapes our perceptions and perspectives. Whoever controls the news defines our destiny."
Which one is correct and where can i verify this?
From some web searching, it seems like "shapes our destiny" is the correct version - it's the one I see directly attributed to him. The other variation seems to have been used in secondhand references. I can't yet track down an attribution source. I've made some inquiries via email, but have yet to hear anything.
